ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Florida is rich with softball talent at the high school level and one of the best pitchers in the state is right here in Central Florida. Lake Brantley's senior pitcher, Hannah Marien, leads a youthful team as it makes its way through the playoffs.

"Hannah has been instrumental in our success. Her stats, her numbers, her work ethic speaks for itself," said first-year coach Jacob Stanley. "She has dominated a lot of the best teams in the state and every time she is in the circle, she gives us a chance to win."

With her efforts on the season she was selected to play the Florida Athletic Coaches Assoociation all star game later this summer at Southren College in Lakeland.

"It just feels great because I’ve tried so hard since I was 8 to be the best I can be and finally getting recognition for that," said Marien.

Hannah not only leads the team in strikeouts, but has also helped the team in the playoffs at the plate. She hit two homeruns in the district playoffs and those were the first two of the season.

"I struggled at the beginning of the season but I’ve made some adjustments and fix my stance at the plate a little," said Marien. "It just feels great to be able to pitch and hit and I can also back myself up and help my team win games."

This year's patriots team features a young team with 7 out of the 15 players being a freshman and coach says Marien has been huge building the foundation for the program.

"It’s been a blast for this team to back me up every game and I look forward to the next game," said Marien.

Next year Marien will taking her talents to the next level, she has signed to play at Stetson University.

"I love it because it’s close to home and it’s a great school academically and I love the coaches there," said Marien.
