ORLANDO, FLA -- There is zero hesitation in Cole Anthony's response to a question about his career to date.
"I try to compare myself to the elite of the elite," the second-year guard says. "We’re talking the Donovan Mitchell’s, Steph Curry, Damian Lillard. All of those elite guards and for me I match myself up with those guys.”
His goal is crystal clear. The path to get there for a young guards can be rocky. Anthony has no issue with grinding to the top. That means he's not complacent with a 4-11 start even for a team in an expected rebuild.
"I need to be doing a lot more to help this team to function better. It’s been solid but I think it’s early in the season and we have room for a whole bunch of growth. That’s what I’m focused on.”
Through the first 15 games of his sophomore season, Anthony paces the Magic with 19.9 points per game. He leads the Magic in assists and three-pointers made.
