ORLANDO, Fla.— A day at the gym for Josh Koch is a little different than most golfers.
As he uses different equipment and mechanics at New Dimensions Wellness in order to stay at the top of his sport.
Koch is a professional long driver and a two time champion at that.
“I was always a high adrenaline explosive athlete and with golf it was kind of hard to let it go so in the sport of long drive you can actually use it to your advantage so that’s kind of why I fell in love with the sport,” said Josh Koch, a professional long driver.
It’s a sport that is growing in popularity once again.
“There has kind of been a need for speed as I like to call it. A lot of people now are reaching out because they want to get faster. Tour guys are reaching out to me wondering what they can do to increase their club head speed which is crazy because they’ve won at the highest level,” said Koch.
Tour players such as Bryson Dechambeau have helped revitalized the game.
“The sport especially with COVID was kind of on a decline and definitely needed a boost so thankfully Bryson came along and wanted to get involved to help us grow it,” said Koch.
While professional long driving gains new live, Koch continues to use his unique training methods in hopes of unlocking new speeds.
“Personal goal is to hit 230 mph ball speed, 160 mph club head speed. Currently we are at 227 PR ball speed 157 clip head speed,” said Koch.
