SANFORD, Fla — High school football practice is in full swing and schools are getting ready for the start of the season. Seminole High in Sanford, which is the defending 8A state champion, will have plenty of talent returning to the gridiron. One of their leaders is senior linebacker, Kameron Moore.

"The enjoyable part of playing linebacker is running the defense, having everybody in the right spots so you can make great plays on the field," Moore says.

"He’s a guy that it’s going to be his third year starting for us on defense," head coach Eric Lodge says. "He’s really like having another coach out on the field."

With all that experience under his helmet, teammates look to him as the leader on defense.

"I try to stay level-headed, just work hard. Everybody looks at me, but I’m a regular person who comes out here and does this every day," Moore says.

With being one of the best players on one of the best teams in the state, college offers are starting to come in.

"Recruiting has been very good," Moore says. "It’s just been playing the cards right, taken one step at a time and talking it over with my parents and my family."

His brother, current FSU defensive back and former UCF Knight Brandon Moore, has advised him during the recruiting process.

"Play the options right. Don’t do something too early, don’t do something too late, do it right," Brandon says.

With plenty of talent returning and being the defending state champion, the expectations are high for this season.

"Same energy as the last season, work hard, don’t take no opponents lightly and play to your full potential," Kameron Moore says.

"We got a lot of hungry guys, a lot of young guys on the team that are ready to go out and prove they can do it again," says Lodge.

Seminole starts the season on Aug. 27 at home versus Riverview Sarasota.
