ORLANDO, FLA -- Six times Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls reached the NBA Finals. Six times they won.

When 'MJ' finally reached the top of the mountain, only once was he knocked off.

  • 2020 marks the 25-year anniversary of the Magic's first NBA Finals appearance
  • Orlando defeated Michael Jordan's Bulls in the second round
  • The Magic are the last team to beat Jordan in the playoffs

A young, energetic team from Orlando ruined the annual coronation.

“I think that team had a very good chemistry, a very good feel about it and we all felt we can’t be beat at home,” said former Magic Head Coach Brian Hill.

Led by Shaquille O'Neal and Penny Hardaway, the Magic went 57-25, claiming the top seed in the 1994-95 Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Their second round series was a matchup with the Bulls and Jordan; fresh off a one-year stint in minor league baseball.

The iconic moment in the series came in opening game, in the closing seconds, Nick Anderson stole the ball from Michael triggering a game-winning basket from Horace Grant.

The Magic went on to win that series 4-2. It's the last time Michael Jordan lost in the playoffs.

Twenty-five years later, members of the Magic reminisce about arguably the biggest postseason series win in franchise history.
