ORLANDO, FLA -- On match days inside Orlando City Stadium, the energy becomes infectious; on the field, in the stands and especially in broadcast booth.
No one brings more energy and passion than Orlando City's spanish radio team.
"We have a party in the press box," said producer Jorge Santana.
Santana's alongside play-by-play man Sergio Torres, color commentator Israel Heredia and analyst Miguel Gallardo make up the spanish broadcast team on La Nueva 990 AM.
"When the two teams take the field, it's all about passion," Torres said.
Passion is one of the defining traits of this broadcast team. Their high energy along with Torres's iconic goal call have become a staple of the airwaves.
"People like the spanish call for the passion," Torres said.
The charisma on the broadcast comes natural. Torres, Santana, Gallardo and Heredia have worked together since Orlando City's inception into MLS. Torres and Heredia have more than 20 years of broadcasting experience.
“We know each other very well," Heredia said. "It’s almost very organic the way we understand each other without saying anything.”
Together they're not just another broadcast team. They're the voice of Orlando City's proud, widespread hispanic fan base.
“I want to make sure that my people are getting the best of us, are getting a great product and are informed and having fun as well the same way we are, “ Santana said.
The love for their fans comes full circle. The team is constantly reminded of the responsibility they carry. City's famous "Wall" fan section performs numerous chants in Spanish.
“The fans feel it," Heredia said. "They live it. They have a lot of pride and they’re very loyal.”
"It's an honor and a privilege to do what we do," Santana said.
