Katie Streit is a national multimedia journalist at Spectrum News based in Tampa, Florida.
Katie started her journey at Spectrum News 13 in Orlando, reporting in Central Florida covering Orange County.
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Katie holds a bachelor of arts degree in Journalism & Media Studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. There, she won a student Emmy for her coverage of the one-year anniversary of the Las Vegas Route 91 Musical Festival shooting.
Katie’s passion for storytelling led her to a career in journalism. Living and working in Central Florida as a journalist, Katie knows the best way to approach a story is to earn the trust of the community by being genuine, honest, and transparent.
Katie joined the Spectrum News team in February 2022 after working as a multimedia journalist in Medford, Oregon as a breaking news and general assignment reporter. Her coverage on the wildfires burning in Northern California and Southern Oregon led to additional federal emergency support (FEMA) for rural communities. Prior to that, she was a congressional intern in Washington, D.C. for a U.S. House Representative.
When Katie isn’t reporting, she may be catching a flight. Katie loves traveling to new and exotic places and is always ready for a new adventure.
