ST. CLOUD, Fla. — In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, food insecurity has become an issue for families. Google Trends has verified this, showing a rise in searches when it comes to finding free food.

The St. Cloud Community Pantry has seen the number of people picking up food triple during this COVID-19 crisis. They give each family about 85 pounds of food a month, which is equivalent to over $116.45 in groceries.

Tammi Madison, Executive Director for the St. Cloud Community Pantry, is asking for the community’s commitment as they move forward in giving.

“This is not going to go away. We are looking at possibly through the end of the year, possibly into the springtime,” she said. “Those people are still going to be coming in, and they're going to need food, and I want to make sure we have the funds and the resources to provide food for you then as well as now.”

The St. Cloud Community Pantry is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
