FLORIDA — Following the debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, many Democratic Party leaders and supporters urged Biden to step aside. And on Sunday, the 46th U.S. president did just that.

Florida’s political analysts said they saw it coming.

The analysts shared their thoughts on the announcement and what this now means for the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee and the 2024 presidential race in general.

Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and she officially announced her intent to run for president.

But will the party back her is a lingering question, among others, like who would be running alongside her?

Eddie Fernandez, a Republican analyst and former Orange County clerk of court, said this to Spectrum News.

“I actually think the perception of stability from Kamala Harris, I actually think there’s something to that. Whether she’s liked or not, I think there’s something to that idea of preserving the Biden campaign. But I would start talking about who are the VP picks, and that’s a tough question as well,” he shared.

Former Tampa Mayor and Democratic analyst Bob Buckhorn says it all came down to Biden’s age.

"I'm just sad for the president. You know, 50 years in public life, a stellar track record as the president of the United States. Moved the needle more so than most administrations could do in eight years but at the end of the day, he just couldn't beat father time," he said.
