ORLANDO, Fla. — President Joe Biden wants to put big money toward infrastructure. What would that include?

"It's also investments in manufacturing, investments in semiconductors. Right now, we are massively dependent on other countries for our semiconductors. That makes America very vulnerable," U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo says.

In an exclusive one-on-one with Spectrum News 13 political reporter Greg Angel, Raimondo explains what America's massive investment would include in the eyes of the White House.

Then, Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott is pushing legislation to jump-start and revive the cruise industry, which is a huge component of the state's economy.

"We've been trying to have a conversation between the CDC and the cruise industry for almost since it started, and it's just like it's like a black hole. We can't get an answer for a way the cruise industry can open in a safe manner," Scott tells Spectrum News anchor Rick Elmhorst.

Finally, in our latest episode of "Central Florida: Beyond the Soundbite" podcast, our affordable housing expert, Molly Duerig, joins us to explain why even if you're doing well financially and live in a nice home, the issue of affordable housing still affects you.

"What's affordable can change, depending on what does that means to you.

"It's generally understood that affordable housing is when you're spending less than 30% of your income on your housing expenses, and that's a definition that came to be back in the '70s after several different federal policy changes took place. (That includes) rent, mortgage, and utilities, and a lot of Americans are spending 30% or more on housing. ... (But) it's not just the extremely low income folks that we see, it's people in the lower income, lower to middle class, who are spending that much on housing," she says in our podcast.

That's all in this week's episode of Political Connections.
