Imagine going into a dark forest at night. Now, imagine when all kinds of horrifying things are happening to you and you can’t get out.

1.        A Petrified Forest in Altamonte Springs is now in its 17 year. It’s arguably one of the scariest haunts in all of Central Florida, with three all-new scare trails for 2024.

2.        Kari Ringer is the event coordinator. “You are looking at the true backwoods of Florida,” she told us, taking us behind the scenes. “I mean, if you’re going to work for a Halloween event, it’s the thrill of the scare.”

3.        The theme this year is Societies in Shadow, and linking them all are the “Observers.” “There’s nothing creepier than the feeling of being watched,” she laughed.

4.        One of the trails is The Lifeline. “They’ve been stripped of one of their senses, which is sight. And you will be stripped of your sight, literally following a lifeline the entire trail.”

5.        All tickets to A Petrified Forest include free parking and trolley ride to event. It’s open 7:30-10:30 p.m. through Saturday, November 2, 2024.
