The site of an old bank building is now home to a modern space for community gathering.
1. Maitland Social (360 E. Horatio Ave, Maitland) is a new dining and entertainment venue, creating a fun and social atmosphere for the community and access to different eateries and workout facility all in one. Check out the key players who teamed up to make this happen: Garber Development and DAP Design led the architectural and innovative modern design of the building. Lamm & Co served as the general contractor. Wilson & Girgenti led the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design.
2. The new hot spot now includes Foxtail Coffee Co., Wave Sushi, Pizza Bruno, Urban Body Works fitness center, and Thrive Cocktail Lounge.
3. Gio Rodriguez, 28, a senior mechanical engineer with subcontractor Wilson & Girgenti, says she is proud to have helped with the project. “The things that we design actively affect the community,” she said. “These are places where local members of the community open their businesses. One of my favorite parts about doing this is (these are) things that I can go in and enjoy.”
4. Gio said buildings make up 40% of our energy use, so her job is to make each space as efficient as possible. “I know that I did my job well when people aren’t thinking about the systems that I designed," she said. "When you’re comfortable, you’re not thinking about AC, are you?”
5. This new space is designed to accommodate any kind of tenant — from retail and fitness to food.
