The Silver Spurs Rodeo is about to happen and we're catching up with the Big Boss. As we go On The Town, we're discovering just how important the family component is to this community, both inside and outside the arena.
So what is a “Big Boss?” Think of him as the president and top dog of the Silver Spur Riding Club. This year, it's Dustin Bronson.
Bronson is a seventh-generation Osceola County resident and a member of a pioneer cattle family. Becoming “Big Boss” is a big deal for him, especially since his wife and kids are active participants in the rodeo realm.
Dustin has two boys who are taking after dad, performing quadrille. Bronson describes quadrille as a square dance on horses. The family is getting ready for the 148th Silver Spurs Rodeo. FUN FACT: Dustin's mom, Joyce, was also a member of quadrille and you'll find her up in concessions.
When you see Dustin this weekend, he'll likely be pushing the stock and calves out of the arena.
The Silver Spurs Rodeo, featuring 7 traditional rodeo events, is February 18-20, 2022 at Silver Spurs Arena at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee. The big parade is on the 19th at 11 a.m. in downtown St. Cloud.
