LONGWOOD, Fla. — Imagine the contrast of a tropical-looking island and snow slides. The best of both worlds combine at Wekiva Island's 4th annual Winter Wonderland.
1. Wekiva Island's 2019 Winter Wonderland offers free admission. Grab a seat on an Adirondack chair, sip your umbrella drink, and the winter season takes on an incredibly "Florida" feel.
2. Winter Wonderland features daily (unlimited) snow slides ($7 to $10). Owners say they're hauling in 72 tons throughout the duration of the event.
3. On the weekends, Santa and Mrs. Claus tell us they'll be hanging out. Santa's elves worked mighty hard on his custom water sleigh, which guests can climb on in for a trip down the river. (This is an extra ticketed event).
4. The Tooting Otter Craft Beer, Wine Bar & General Store is Wekiva Island’s indoor and outdoor bar. (Food and outside beverages are strictly prohibited, unless you have rented a Cabana. Alcohol is never allowed in the parking lot or on the river.) Wekiva Island's beloved food truck does the cooking.
5. Experience snowfall and thousands of lights every evening through December 31. Other activities include outdoor movies, ornament decorating, live music and more. Head to the Wekiva Island website to see the full schedule.
