ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — A 33-year-old Ormond Beach man was arrested Thursday on charges related to the death of his 18-month-old.
The Ormond Beach Police Department said Scott Allen Gardner left his toddler, Sebastian, in a hot truck on June 6 for more than 3 hours while he got a haircut and went drinking at Hanky Panky’s Lounge.
Officials said medical personnel estimated that Sebastian’s body temperature reached 111 degrees.
Police officers arrested Gardner at his mother’s home in Ormond Beach on Thursday after they said he gave multiple false accounts of what occurred that day.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood is expected to provide more details Friday on the investigation.
