The Peak Initiative offers summer programming for kids starting in elementary school and going through high school. The organization operates summer day camp programming at their main campus in Milwaukee. In addition, Peak operates Lake Valley Camp, an overnight camp program near Boscobel in southwest Wisconsin.

Peak Initiative is looking to fill a wide range of camp counselor positions as well as supervisory roles, both at the camp in Boscobel as well as in Milwaukee.

Erin Fischer, Peak Initiative’s Executive Director, said having dedicated staff helps make programs operate at their full potential.

“They (staff) are the ones that make the mission possible. Having great staff who are invested in our young people, who are excited about bringing the magic, the spirit,” said Fischer. “Anyone who sees our young people as leaders and sees everything that is amazing about them is really what allows our programming to take place.”

Lucero Serna is Peak Initiative’s Assistant Director of Camp Programs, but has had a nearly lifelong connection to the organization. Serna began attending Peak camps starting at age 9.

Serna said getting to grow within the program has been a great experience.

“It is really incredible to come back at this capacity. I get to come back and design what the camp programing looks like, what every day at camp is for the campers,” said Serna. “I take that really seriously.”
