  • No injuries were reported in McCracken County

Director of Emergency Management of McCracken County, Rob Estes said “We had an estimated of around 5000 people that were without power. Telephone poles were snapped, they were down.”

Christ Community Church in Paducah is one of many buildings that was destroyed.

Tim Turner has been the church’s pastor for 25 years. He showed up in the middle of the night after hearing the roof had collapsed.

“I rushed down here, when they said the roof was gone, when I got there, the building was gone,” Turner said. “We lost everything. Every musical instrument, everything is gone. I don’t think there is anything salvageable here.”

According to Turner, the damage could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Turner said, “It’s going to be upwards of half a million to a million dollars.”

Despite the damage, no one was injured in McCracken County.

McCracken County Sheriff Ryan Norman said, “I believe we’re very fortunate that it wasn’t worse.”

Turner said he’s more grateful no one was hurt than worried about what was lost.

“Something good will come out of this. We’ll be okay,” Turner said.

In Ballard County, four people were hurt with at least one person to be in critical condition, said Ballard County Emergency Management.
