The city of Rochester's annual spring cleanup is returning once again this year.
Set for Saturday, May 3, the Clean Sweep initiative calls on residents, community groups, businesses and more to get together and beautify the city. This includes removing graffiti, repairing sidewalks, filling potholes, planting flowers and cleaning properties.
“Clean Sweep is a wonderful annual opportunity for Rochesterians to show some spirit and demonstrate their pride in the Flower City through action,” Mayor Malik Evans said in a statement. “It’s a spectacular moment when we all come together as one community to beautify neighborhoods across the city. I invite everyone to take part and join me and the thousands of volunteers who turn out each year help us transform our city for the better.”
You don't need to be on a team to participate, as individuals can also take part.
Those who wish to register can call 311 or (585) 428-5990 (outside city limits) or visit the city's website.
Those taking part should meet at Innovative Field at 8 a.m. You will receive a Clean Sweep t-shirt and breakfast before heading off to project sites on buses.
