DALLAS — After a massive panic in Dallas on Saturday, caused by a fight between parents that was mistaken for an active shooter, the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) All-Star National Championship continued on Sunday.
Dallas police investigated the incident at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on Saturday and confirmed on X that there was no active shooter.
Police reported that a two-person fight triggered a loud crash of multiple poles in the convention center, causing widespread panic.
Outside the convention center, a stampede caused multiple, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
The NCA All-Star Championship is celebrating its 30th year this year with 58,000 attendees in Dallas. The championship is the most prestigious all star cheerleading competition in the world, according to the Dallas Sports Commission.
