SANFORD, Fla. — True Health hosted its annual Community Day on Saturday, providing free medical services and resources to residents in Goldsboro, a historically underserved neighborhood.
The event, held at True Health’s Goldsboro location, offered a range of healthcare services at no cost, including cervical cancer screenings, dental check-ups, immunizations, and blood pressure and glucose screenings. Residents were also able to receive free produce and connect with various community resources.
“Community Day started four or five years ago when we recognized the need for expanded Saturday services,” said Nurez Madhany, True Health’s chief operations officer. “It has now evolved into a full community event, especially in areas like Goldsboro, where access to healthcare is limited.”
In addition to medical services, several organizations participated in the event, including Self-Help, a national community development financial institution. The organization provided financial education, emphasizing the connection between financial stability and overall well-being.
“There’s a stigma around finances, and many people avoid talking about money,” said Alecia Meulendyk, a branch manager at Self-Help. “We’re here to show that financial health is just as important as physical health.”
True Health, which operates ten locations across Central Florida, focuses on serving medically underserved areas designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration. The organization aims to continue providing essential healthcare and resources to communities in need.
