KISSIMMEE, Fla. — There is a new attraction at Old Town America in Kissimmee that’s at least 6 generations deep.

1. Jhosette Adkins is from a long line of moonshiners making the good stuff in the hearts of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. She’s one of the owners of the brand new attraction at Old Town, which was 15 months in the making.

2. Mount Dora has the other Maw’s Mountain Moonshine. “Maw” was Jhostte’s grandma. She always had the moonshine around.

“My grandmother would use it for medicinal purposes, Adkins said. “If you had a cough or a cold, she’d put a little milk and honey and some tea and a little drop of moonshine. And that’s what we had.”

3. Jhosette and her husband are roofers by trade. But they turned their hobby into an entertainment destination.

“We put everything that we own, our heart and soul, into every jar that goes on the shelf,” she said.

4. If you want a tasting experience, Maw’s has it, manned by a select few of a whopping 300 people who applied to work there.

5. Maw’s also has patio seating and live music on most Friday and Saturday nights. As always at Old Town, parking and admission are free.
