If you were to look at 10 to 15 grains of salt, you would barely have enough to hold in your hand.
It might even go unnoticed on your kitchen counter.
Those 10 to 15 grains are equivalent to 2 milligrams, and when we talk about fentanyl, those 2 milligrams are considered to be a lethal dose of the synthetic opioid.
Pharmaceutical fentanyl is approved for treating severe pain, typically advanced cancer pain.
It is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, and is a very attractive product on the illegal drug market.
How do we fight fentanyl? How do we stay safe, considering those 10 to 15 grains (or more) can be easily mixed in with other drugs of suspicious origin and never be noticed?
