CLEVELAND — This year's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees feature a variety of genres.
“These remarkable Nominees have each created their own musical style and attitude, impacting generations of music lovers and contributing to the ever-evolving sounds and continued growth of rock and roll”, said John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in a release.

- Bad Company
- The Black Crowes
- Mariah Carey
- Chubby Checker
- Joe Cocker
- Billy Idol
- Joy Division/New Order
- Cyndi Lauper
- Maná
- Oasis
- Outkast
- Phish
- Soundgarden
- The White Stripes
Among the 14 nominees, eight are on the ballot for the first time: Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, Outkast and Phish.
Artists or bands can become eligible for the nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording, according to the Rock Hall. They are selected based off of their impact on music culture, on other musicians, as well as the longevity and scope of their work.
The inductees will be revealed in April, the Rock Hall said. The public can vote here.
The Induction Ceremony will take place in Los Angeles in the fall. Dates and tickets haven't been announced.
