LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — The Lake County Sheriff’s office arrested a Eustis man Friday after he allegedly attempted to run over students waiting at a bus stop shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Arthur James Young was arrested by deputies after witnesses told them Young tried to run over three middle-school-aged children at a bus stop, but was unsuccessful.
Then, deputies say he fled the initial scene and encountered a middle-school-aged female on the way to another bus stop. Deputies accuse him of attacking the girl and attempting to choke her.
According to a media release, witnesses told deputies that multiple onlookers intervened in the alleged attack, with one firing warning gunshots.
The chief of the Umatilla Police Department also assisted in the arrest.
Young is charged with aggravated assault, child abuse and kidnapping. After his arrest, deputies transported him to AdventHealth Waterman for evaluation.
He will be taken to the Lake County Detention Center to be booked.
