Mary Stepien has lived in the neighborhood for more than 30 years and said she’s never seen this much water in the area.

Her family is helping with cleanup efforts, and they’re trying to get the water out of the subdivision.

“It’s not our water," she said. "We’re asking for emergency help and we’re not getting it."

Lake County officials said they are checking with residents to see what they need.

“If it wasn’t for my family being here, my house would be flooded," Stepien said. "It’s wrong, and I need help now."

She is keeping a close eye on the water and said she's worried about where it could go over the next few days.

“As you can see, we’re flooded from the right to the left, and the devastation continues back here. It’s taken over,” Stepien said.

Living in the area has been a dream for Stepien, and she said she's hoping to make it through this challenging time.

“I’m just sad," she said. "I’m a businesswoman. I’ve been in this community for over 40 years. I pay my taxes, I’m a good person, and I’m just asking for governmental help. Local help."

A Lake County official said crews are going to assess damage in the area over the weekend.
