Chip Dolan says it is really a problem when it rains at intersections like Clyde Morris Boulevard and Mason Avenue.

“The problem is the light fails and while I’m sitting in the lines of traffic that aren’t necessarily obeying traffic law, I’m getting soaking wet,” said Dolan, who rides his motorcycle between home and work.

Clyde Morris Boulevard and Mason Avenue worked on the day Spectrum News 13 was with Dolan, but he did provide a video of another intersection, Mason Avenue and International Speedway Way Boulevard, that wasn’t working, even in sunny skies. When the traffic lights go out, it is chaos, says Dolan.

“It’s possible we’re putting infrastructure behind development in the list of priorities,” he said.

Spectrum News 13 reached out to Volusia County. The county’s traffic engineering division inspected Clyde Morris Boulevard and Mason Avenue but didn’t find any problems. But it will continue to monitor the location.

“When I have no choice but to sit in the pouring down rain, that’s enough to make me want to react,” said Dolan.

Spectrum News 13 connected Dolan to Volusia County, so now any time he sees a problem, he can alert the county and hopefully get it resolved.

“It would be nice to not have to deal with the light not functioning,” he said. “I just want it to work, that’s all. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
