The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says as of Tuesday afternoon, Deputy Harold Howell is recovering from a surgery to his arm and stable.

The agency added Deputy Stefano Gargano will have a surgery on his arm on Wednesday, and is progressing well. Gargano is stable after he was listed in critical condition for days following the shooting.

The community is also coming together to support the family of Bradley Link, who was killed, as well as the injured deputies. The Florida Deputy Sheriff’s Association is printing and selling t-shirts that say “Lake County Strong.”

Through the association’s Lend a Hand program and the selling of those t-shirts, FDSA has raised more than $30,000. FDSA says that money will be divided between the families of the deputies involved.

Former Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary says he knows Lake County Sheriff Peyton Grinnell well, and has talked with him since the shooting.

“He’s hurting in the heart. He is a leader of men and women. They’re not numbers to him, they’re real people, and that goes straight to the heart,” said Beary.

Beary is happy to see the support for the families of the deputies involved. He faced the loss of deputies while he was sheriff for 16 years in Orange County.

“It’s time to come together and take care of the families, and rebuild this community after this tragedy,” said Beary.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service for Master Deputy Bradley Link will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at Real Life Christian Church, 1501 Steve’s Road in Clermont.

The service will also be live streamed for those who are not able to attend in person; a virtual link will be provided at a later time on our social media accounts.

The entirety of the Celebration of Life event will take place at the Real Life Church property. There will be no viewing or internment.

The suspect in this case made her first court appearance Tuesday.
