Beneria Turnipseed, a Delta Airline traveler from Atlanta, traveled to Orlando International Airport (MCO) to catch a cruise from Port Canaveral last week. She experienced delays last Thursday evening, but said her situation has worsened. Stranded at the airport, Turnipseed is now concerned about potentially losing her job.

“They don’t have a flight for us," she said. "So we’re sitting here waiting and now we have to get back to our kids and we’re just stuck here.”

Tony Cirone, another Delta Airline traveler, has also faced disruptions. His family of four experienced delays and cancellations and were originally scheduled to arrive in New York on Monday. That flight cancelled, they are now rebooked for Wednesday morning.

“We booked flights this morning, too. We actually separated. So there were four of us. One went home last night. Two were supposed to go at seven this morning," said Cirone. "I was supposed to go at 11 this morning and everything has been canceled. So we’ve now rebooked for Wednesday morning at 6 a.m.”

Delta Airlines has acknowledged the disruptions and is actively communicating with impacted customers. On Monday, some Delta travelers waited at least six hours to check in, only to find out their flights were canceled.

Cirone emphasized the need for better communication from Delta, urging the airline’s CEO to address the passengers directly.

“I think better notification, more timely notification, and ultimately just managing the process as effectively as they can," he said. "I understand you have pilot issues, you have flight attendant issues, but communications, everything. And I think the CEO of the organization at Delta should be coming out and communicating with passengers right now, because this is a nightmare.”

Delta has announced that travelers affected by this issue can request refunds.
