ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina nonprofit, with a domestic violence survivor at the helm, is helping mothers and families in need.

Jackie Vanhook is the founder of MayneLine Resources in Alamance County. Their mission is to provide vital resources and support for low-income families and youth in the community.

“So, a while back, I was a domestic violence survivor, and I was married," Vanhook said. "And just having to leave that situation and stand in hiding for a while. And just knowing women now that they are going through it, it made me realize that just giving back to the community and helping women out that have kids, that they can't afford to do certain things.”

The organization is dedicated to uplifting low-income families and fostering youth in the community. Vanhook said their mission is to bridge the gap, providing vital resources and support. And it's rewarding to give back to her community.

“Hopefully we will be able to change the narrative in the community as far as people needing things like homelessness," she said. "Being able to have clothing without being, without struggling, not being able to buy things in, you know, provide for people that actually need it.”

MayneLine Resources hosted its first annual fundraiser on June 8 called "The Black-Tie Affair." The fundraiser raised money and awareness to help provide resources for those in Alamance County.
