KISSIMMEE, Fla. — As Osceola County continues to grow, developers are looking to target a new demographic: commuters.

What You Need To Know

  • A new development in Kissimmee, Weston 4 Hundred, is located about a block away from the Kissimmee SunRail station, and is hoping to cater towards commuters

  • The project features 205 units, with rent ranging from about $1,460 to $2,300 a month

  • The estimated $38 million project is slated to welcome its first residents next month

For some commuters, a drive to the train station can make a long commute even longer.

“(Being able to walk) directly to the train station would shave 30 minutes of an already two hour commute,” said Keen Williams, a Kissimmee commuter. “So it would definitely be a huge benefit to me, and I can only imagine how much more of a benefit it would be to those in Central Florida.”

Weston 4 Hundred is a new apartment complex slated to open just about a block away from the Kissimmee SunRail station.

Developers call the project “transit-oriented” due to its close proximity to public transportation.

Osceola County is growing even faster than Orange County, and is the 18th fastest growing county in the United States, according to official.

However, with the growth, comes more cars, people, and traffic. Developers hope their project will reduce the amount of traffic ordinarily associated with a new complex as some residents will walk to the train station.

“Transit-oriented communities are proving to be vital as we see Central Florida continuing to expand,” said Ricardo Alicea, Wendover VP of Asset and Community Management in a press release. “We’ve seen great success with Weston Park, our other transit-oriented community in Longwood, and have the same goals for Kissimmee in terms of providing residents with an enjoyable living experience while allowing seamless access to both jobs and recreation.”

The project features 205 units, with rent ranging from about $1,460 to $2,300 a month.

The estimated $38 million project is slated to welcome its first residents next month.
