ORLANDO, Fla. — A recent pavement project on All American Boulevard resulted in the re-striping of the turn lane from northbound All American Boulevard at Edgewater Drive, and the striping caused confusion and close calls, said Paul Jones, who works nearby.

The through-lane arrow switched from the right to the left lane on northbound All American Boulevard at Edgewater Drive.

“People are at the last minute realizing it’s right turn only, and then they stop in a dead stop (and) try to get over in front of people in the turn lane because they realize they can’t go straight,” Jones said.

Drivers are not used to the switch and are using the wrong lane to travel straight through the intersection, cutting off traffic in the other lane, said Jones, who travels through the intersection daily on his way home from work.

“It’s really close calls I’ve watched,” he said.

In response to a request about the issue, a city of Orlando spokesperson said a contractor made a striping error.

Less than a day later, the contractor re-striped it.

Now that through-lane arrow is back in the right lane.

Jones said he is thankful he won’t have any close calls when he heads home from work now.

“No more people running through and almost causing accidents,” he said.
