ORLANDO, Fla. — Although Thanksgiving is over, one church in Orlando is continuing to give back to their community with food distribution.

Mount Sinai Seventh-Day Adventist Church gives out boxes of food every Sunday and Monday on a weekly basis.

What You Need To Know

  • Mount Sinai Seventh-Day Adventist Church volunteers say homelessness is widely prevalent in the area and providing food is one way they can give back

  • The food distribution allows people to drive up, pop their trunk and receive a box full of free food

  • The food distribution is held every Sunday and Monday at 2600 Orange Center Boulevard in Orlando

Arnett Barkley, one of the volunteers, says food insecurity is a problem, and being able to provide fresh produce for those who need it is crucial.

“We have a lot of clients in the community, we have a lot of homelessness, they have a lot of people who actually need assistance in their daily routine in that’s why we’re here,” said Barkley.

Boxes include fresh produce, canned goods, fruit, meat and dessert.

Volunteers say the box can last someone a whole week depending on the size of the family.

The distribution is made possible through donations from big corporations such as Whole Foods, Olive Garden, Eddie V’s and Yard House

“We love giving back. We love seeing people coming through my line," said Barkley. "We usually have 50 to 60 cars on both days, so we do quite a bit, we help quite a bit."

The weekly distribution is held at 2600 Orange Center Boulevard in Orlando.

When available the church also has a clothes distribution.
