Led by Bill Cook and his team, the goal is to illuminate the night sky with a spectacular display of fireworks.

Zambelli Fireworks, known for their remarkable shows across the state, handles the pyrotechnics.

Although the setup process requires significant effort, the results make it all worthwhile.

Bill Cook has been involved in the fireworks industry for many years. However, the story began half a century ago when his grandfather, Calvin Cook, witnessed the Eau Gallie fireworks show at the age of 13.

Impressed by the spectacle, Calvin was soon recruited to be part of the team. One day, he received an unexpected call.

"Hey Calvin, the show and the truck are coming to you. You're shooting the fireworks this year," recalls Bill, describing the phone call that marked the continuation of the family legacy.

Bill's father, Steve, also contributed to the tradition. This past Sunday marked his final show, as he organized the city of Palm Bay event.

After an impressive 55 years in the field, Steve has decided to retire and hang up his pyrotechnics hat.

"It's time for me to become a spectator. I'm getting old, let's face it," laughs Bill, expressing his father's sentiments.

Nevertheless, the tradition lives on within the family, as Bill's brother and nephew remain actively involved in the world of fireworks.

The primary objective of the melBOOM Fourth of July celebration is to provide a safe and awe-inspiring experience for families attending the event.

The show aims to instill a sense of pride in being an American on one of the most patriotic days of the year.

"As American as apple pie, as American as fireworks, I just need a hot dog too. What else do I need?" Bill exclaims with a smile, encapsulating the spirit of the occasion.

The melBOOM fireworks show is scheduled to commence at 9 p.m. at Front Street Park.

Attendees should be aware that the Melbourne Causeway will be closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. as part of the event's preparations.
