ORLANDO, Fla. — In Flagler County, there is an Everyday hero in every sense of the word. For the last decade, and then some, Manny Confuscione has given his time to the Humane Society. It's a lot of work, but he says he loves what he does, and his dedication is award-winning.

What You Need To Know

  •  Manny Confuscione lives with Cerebral Palsy

  •  Volunteers at the Flagler County Humane Society

  •  Recently named "Volunteer of the Year"

"I'm greeting people, bringing stuff in, donation," Confuscione said of his volunteer work at the Humane Society.

His job is tougher to do because he has Cerebral Palsy. Most of his work is done in a wheelchair, but Confuscione does his best.

"He makes everything fun, he comes to all of our fundraisers, he dances in his wheelchair, they named a drink after him after one of our fundraisers," said Amy Carotenuto, executive director of the Flagler County Humane Society.

Confuscione's hard work and dedication was recently recognized, he was awarded volunteer of the year.

"It feels good, and I didn't know," Confuscione said. "And, I didn't know that I was getting it."

One of his friends gave him an application, which he filled out, and 12 years later, the rest is history.
