FORT PIERCE, Fla. — A 30-year-old Fort Pierce woman has died from injuries sustained during a shooting in Ft. Pierce on Monday, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

The woman's 6-year-old daughter is OK, authorities said.
In all, eight people were shot.
According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, more than 1,000 people had gathered for the MLK Car Show and Family Fun Day late Monday afternoon at Ilous Ellis Park.
Deputies say while no arrests have been made, they believe the shooting resulted from a dispute between rival gangs — on a day that was supposed to be about celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and his message about resolving disputes peacefully.
"Yesterday was Martin Luther King Day, a legacy built on nonviolence," St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said. "And sadly, we experienced violence in our community. Our thoughts go out to the lady's family, who lost her life in this senseless act."
Keke Jackson lives right across the street from Ellis Park and described a terrifying scene when she heard a barrage of gunshots.
On Tuesday, investigators knocked on doors in the neighborhood, seeking more information.
