J. Henry, who ran J. Henry’s Barbershop on Church Street, said the interior demolition process has begun at that location. He hopes the new shop will be up and running by next summer, saying he has been in touch with the property owner on the design.

“We’re looking forward to that happening,” he said.

Henry said the community rallied around him after the November fire last year, raising money to help him get back on his feet and replace some of his equipment. Investigators ruled the fire, which happened around two weeks before Thanksgiving, an accident.

Henry said many of his clients have followed him to his friend Paul James’ barbershop down the road, Culturz Cutz & Hair Studios.

Henry calls his continued clientele a blessing: “It tells me that as I continue to stay humble and allow God to lead and guide me, the sky’s the limit with the clientele that He continues to send to support the business.”
