ORLANDO, Fla. — State Road 46 between Brevard, Volusia and Seminole counties remains closed due to major flooding.

What You Need To Know

  • SR 46 between Brevard, Volusia and Seminole counties remain closed due to floods

  • FHP is advising motorists to take SR 50 as an alternate route

  • There is no timeline for when the roadway will reopen

Water levels along parts of the road are nearly 13 feet deep, with some of the worst conditions between Puzzle Lake and Lake Harney, which are still underwater.

FHP has shut down the roadway in the Geneva area and only locals can get in, which is a challenge for some who aren’t able to drive through the flooded streets.

"The house is dry but we can't get out on the main roads," says Danny DeVoy, whose property is surrounded by floodwaters.

DeVoy said the flood has also brought out a lot of critters. "Lots of alligators, lots of water moccasins, there are alligators swimming in peoples' front yards. Deer, they just have nowhere to go, searching for higher ground."

NOAA predicts a slight water level drop from 12.64 feet to 12.5 feet overnight. But it's still in the major flooding category.

DeVoy said it's the worst flooding the neighborhood has seen in forty years, worse than Fay in 2008 and Irma in 2017.

FHP is advising motorists to take SR 50 as an alternate route.

There is no timeline for when the roadway will reopen.
