WISCONSIN — With Wisconsin’s bow hunting season already underway, the Department of Natural Resources discussed Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) on Thursday.
Hunters should expect up to a two week wait when getting a sample tested for CWD.
“Typically, it’s about two weeks and it might vary throughout the season,” said Amanda Kamps, DNR Wildlife Health Conservation Specialist. “It might be a little bit quicker this time of year right now, and it might be around the ten to fourteen days once you get into the gun deer season.”
The DNR pointed hunters to their website for information and maps that will be updated throughout the season.

Wisconsin’s gun hunting for those with disabilities takes place on Oct. 1-9. The youth hunt is set for Oct. 8 & 9, while the regular gun deer hunting season kicks off on Nov. 19.
