SAINT CLOUD, Fla. — Pedro Brull wears many hats — since he moved to Central Florida from Puerto Rico, he has become a scenery painter and a pastor.

He says one of his favorite hats is when he’s holding a paint brush.

“Do something that people will understand,” said Brull, noting that the experience of life, the good, bad and everything in between, is what he puts on canvas. “I paint what I feel — if it’s pain, that’s what you’re going to see in my painting. If I’m happy, that’s what you’re going to see. It’s real life."

He said much of his inspiration comes from being a pastor, as well as his early days in Puerto Rico. He takes those emotions to create something beautiful, leaving many in awe at what once was an empty canvas.

Now he hopes his legacy inspires other Puerto Rican artists to shine.

“I always like to tell people, especially young artists things that I’ve learned,” Brull said.

He mentors emerging artists. Not only does he teach them technique, he connects them to the Orlando art community.
