ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — As people head to the polls for today’s primary election, voter confidence is a significant priority. 

Many people who voted early by mail-in-ballot, opted to drop off their ballots at a polling location, instead of going through the United States Postal Service. 

The USPS has received criticism in the past over slow service in different states and voters are not willing to risk their votes not being counted.

While Orange County resident Ron Harris prefers to vote in-person on election day, he dropped off his mom’s mail-in-ballot early at a polling place.

“They said to take it inside and hand it to a person. I feel more secure that it will be taken care of properly, instead of dropping it in the box and don’t know when they are going to pick it up from the box,” Harris said.

Another resident, Shelby Gerber, said dropping off her mail-in-ballot to an elections worker helps ease her nerves.

“This is actually only my 2nd or 3rd time voting by mail-in, and the last two times, I have dropped it off personally,” Gerber said. “I’m a little bit on the paranoid side, so I prefer to hand things in directly.”
