ORLANDO, Fla. — A double fatal car crash overnight near the Orlando International Airport snarled traffic and caused dozens of flight delays Saturday, according to the Orlando Police Department.
Traffic is now back to normal near the airport's north entrance and operations inside the terminals are back to normal, airport officials said.
However, a total of 125 flight delays were caused by the crash on Jeff Fuqua Blvd. and Semoran Blvd.
One traveler, Ciera Newman, said it took them two hours to go two miles.
The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m., police said, when a Land Rover ran off the roadway and hit a concrete wall, causing the vehicle to flip over and into a canal.
Two passengers in the vehicle, Erica Pacheco, 34, and David Morales, 56, were pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. The other passenger and driver suffered minor injuries.
The traffic delays from the crash continued into the airport where long lines stretched throughout as passengers waited for a half hour or more to get through security.
Newman said they have been trying to get on a flight since 3:45 a.m.
Officials advise the public to call their airline and make sure their flight is still on time.
