ORLANDO, Fla. — This week’s Everyday Hero is a volunteer for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
Holly Mannino began volunteering for the food bank in August of 2021, joining her son as he completed volunteer hours for a scholarship. Now, he’s getting ready to go to college and she plans to continue volunteering long-term. She is a volunteer captain.
“I’m always happy when I’m here, it just feels good,” she said. “I know I’m helping somebody and we’re just surrounded by people that are happy that they’re doing that too.”
Mannino said she hopes to set an example for her teenage son and daughter to give back to those less fortunate.
“I hope that they see what I’m doing and that they’ll grow up to go out and give back to their communities too,” she said. “I hope they’re learning how important it is.”
