ORLANDO, Fla. – White Castle is a restaurant known for its small, steamy sliders. The chain has a cult following around the country, known as “Cravers.” As our new Central Florida location celebrates the conclusion of its first year in business, we're going inside the kitchen to discover a personality behind the success.
Aaron Johnson is a manager at Orlando's only White Castle, located at 11595 Daryl Carter Parkway.
He moved here from Virginia after applying for a job as White Castle “team member.”
Just a month and a half after the big move, Johnson stood out. He was promoted to manager, where he learned a lot about himself and his managerial skills. “You don't want to be the 'boss' of somebody,” he said, while stacking a case of steamy sliders. "You want to be the leader.”
The Orlando White Castle has 120 employees. Aaron is more then confident that he will become the next assistant general manager. “It's not going to end there,” he said, without once looking up from his work. “I'm going to keep pushing.”
White Castle just surpassed its 5 millionth slider since opening one year ago. White Castle is open 7 a.m. to 4 a.m. Starting this summer, a restaurant spokeswoman says they plan to stay open 24 hours a day.
