ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando woman is dead after being shot by a 10-year-old Monday evening, the Orlando Police Department reported.
Officers were called to the 1400 block of Mercy Drive around 11:49 p.m. after reports of a shooting. The victim, Lashun Rodgers, 41, was located and transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
According to the police report, two adult women got into an altercation and one of the women, Lakrisha S. Isaac, 31, handed her daughter a bag which contained a firearm. The 10-year-old retrieved the gun from the bag and fired two rounds, hitting the victim, the report stated.
Isaac was arrested at the scene and has been charged with:
- Manlaughter Culpable Negligence
- Child Neglect
- Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
- Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
The juvenile, who was released into DCF custody, could potentially face charges in the shooting. The case has been turned over to the State Attorney's Office.
