MELBOURNE, Fla. — A Melbourne Beach man is using his legs to inspire fellow senior citizens to get on the move.

73-year-old David Farrall recently took up power walking after decades of running. The retired veteran has completed 52 marathons, more than 40 half marathons and many 5K's.

The running took a toll on his knees, so now he power walks and cycles one hundred miles a week. Farrell hopes to inspire seniors like him to get active.

"I encourage them; that it's better to see people exercising than sitting on the couch," Farrell told Spectrum News.

Farrall just competed in the 1500 meter power walk at the 2022 National Senior Games in Fort Lauderdale.

He was honored for being a Humana Game Changer for promoting that seniors live healthy lifestyles.
