WILLISTON, Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced during a news conference Friday morning that constitutional carry is coming to Florida.

Right now, Florida allows concealed carry. If the bill is signed, this will mean Floridians can openly carry firearms, even if they have not previously taken a training course.
The governor added that he is not sure when it will get done, but he says he plans on signing the bill while he is in office.
“The one thing I wanted the legislature to do and I think we will do it, I can’t say exactly when, I’m pretty confident I will be able to sign constitutional carry into law in the state of Florida,” said DeSantis.

Democratic State Rep. Anna Eskamani responded to the announcement in a tweet Friday morning: “Many responsible gun owners & law enforcement officers oppose permit-less carry and for good reason; don’t you want someone to at least be trained to carry a firearm? To use it safely?”
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, who is running for governor, also responded to the announcement later that afternoon with the following statement:
