ORLANDO, Fla. – On Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration grounded flights out of Orlando International Airport due to weather, which impacted hundreds of flights.
The check-in line at the Southwest Airlines terminal stretched all the way to the food court after hundreds of flights were cancelled because of the weather. People were standing shoulder to shoulder for hours trying to reschedule a flight home.
Airport operations staff reported 114 arrivals and 163 departures were canceled today because of severe weather. Another 285 delays were also reported.
The FAA ordered a ground stop to freeze operations at OIA because of thunderstorms.
