ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Construction is causing some slowdowns on a busy section of Goldenrod Road in Orange County.

What You Need To Know

  • FDOT is adding raised medians to Goldenrod Road between SR-408 and SR-50

  • Lane closures are causing slowdowns on Goldenrod Road

  • Construction will take place until summer of 2023

Right now, work is ongoing to help limit crashes between State Road 408 and Colonial Drive.

“It’s a lot more dangerous than it was in the past, that’s for sure, just because of the traffic and the growth,” said Chuck Mendenhall, who owns The Mower Shop off Goldenrod Road.

Florida Department of Transportation crews are building raised medians so vehicles can’t legally cross paths.

Mendenhall said it can be dangerous to get out of his parking lot for those looking to turn left.

“I tell everybody that works for us to go around, just so you don’t have to go out there,” he said.

The $11 million project also includes widening the roadway to make way for bike lanes, upgrading traffic signals and improving lighting.

You can expect lane closures and delays on Goldenrod Road for quite some time.

Construction is expected to wrap up by the summer of 2023.
