ORLANDO, Fla. – As CPAC 2022 continues and thousands of conservative leaders and constituents gather, many wonder: who is the future of the Republican Party?
For small business owner Luis Figueroa, it's not so much a "who" as a "what".
“The future of the Republican Party is going to be a movement, not a single person. Firefighters, housekeepers, small business owners. Those are the people who are going to lead the future of the Republican Party," says Figueroa.
Figueroa believes it’s the working-class and everyday people like him who need to step into the political arena, speaking their minds and voting their values. Values, he feels, allowed him to get to where he is today – living the American Dream.
“All of that, I could achieve it because of the openness and freedoms we have in this country," says Figueroa.
Figueroa now owns a commercial real estate business, but living the dream all began with growing up in the poorest area of Puerto Rico. Figueroa moved to Orlando in 2007 with $100. He worked two jobs while going to college full time and eventually earned his master’s degree. Now, Luis is using his success to help other small business owners achieve their own American Dream.
Building a business takes work and dedication. Figueroa has that same sense of urgency with politics today. Waiting is not an option.
“It is time now in 2022 to act. It is time to vote for the right people in Congress and at the local level. I think the time is now. We have to get it done now," says Figueroa.
The four day CPAC concludes on Sunday.
