BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Those looking to get a monoclonal antibody (mAb) treatment in Brevard County have a new place to go as of this week.

On Wednesday, OMNI Healthcare started offering all three treatments at its offices in Titusville and Melbourne.

What You Need To Know

  • OMNI Healthcare is now offering monoclonal antibody treatments

  • The treatment is available at locations in Titusville and Melbourne

  • This adds to the service offered currently in Rockledge by the county

Even though appointments are still fresh, Dr. Craig Deligdish, who helps administer the treatments at the Melbourne location, said they’ve gotten off to a busy start.

“Yesterday afternoon, we treated 20 patients," he said. "This morning, we’ve probably treated about 30 patients. We expect to treat 60-80 today and 60-80 tomorrow."

He said prospective patients go through a pre-screening process to determine which of the treatments they would be best suited for, if any at all.

“Today, I turned somebody away because their symptoms began nine days ago and they were nearly asymptomatic and they had been vaccinated,” Deligdish said. “So, I felt we would essentially triage the medications for those that needed it most.”

OMNI Healthcare applied to be a mAb treatment site about 10 days ago, and a week ago they were notified that they would be receiving about 200 doses for distribution.

He said they would be treating people through Friday and then would resume with what they had leftover on Monday, with the hope that more supply would arrive on Tuesday.

Deligdish began his medical career about 40 years ago and said the advancements with mAb treatments in the past 15 years has been incredible

“It is gratifying to see the advances that have occurred just over the last two years with the development of vaccines that are highly effective, the development of treatment that is highly effective,” he said. “So, I think this is an extraordinary time to be a physician.”

Officials at OMNI Healthcare noted that the treatment is meant for people who are high risk of serious infection with COVID-19 or have tested positive for the virus and have been symptomatic for 10 days or less.

Deligdish said if they see increased demand, they will move to offer the treatment seven days a week, given adequate supply from the state.

Those interested in the treatment can call either the Melbourne office at (321) 727-3495 or the Titusville office at (321) 529-6202.

Brevard County Emergency Management is also offering mAb treatment at the Rockledge City Center seven days a week. You can make an appointment with them by following the instructions here.
